Dr Tess Kay Deputy Director, Institute of Youth Sport, School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Loughborough University
Tess Kay undertakes research into sport and its relationship with inclusion, diversity and development, and on the effective delivery of sports-based policy interventions. As Deputy Director of the Institute of Youth Sport she leads evaluations in the UK and internationally of initiatives to use sport to encourage healthy lifestyles, promote individual self-development and inclusion, and build community relationships through participation within and beyond school settings. She has conducted research in the UK, Zambia, India and Brazil for a wide range of government, voluntary and independent organisations, served on research networks for the European Commission and undertaken work using sport to promote education among Muslim young women for the European Social Fund. Tess leads the Institute's international research into the use of sport in developing countries to engage young people, encourage educational attainment and promote healthy lifestyles and is a Co-Director of the evaluation of the International Inspiration programme for British Council, UK Sport and UNICEF.
