Matt Newman, CEO, Welsh Athletics

Matt is a business transformation professional with extensive experience in the private and public sectors including 6 years leading a modernisation programme for National Governing Bodies of Sport. Following a career break and some travelling, Matt decided to apply his commercial experience to the business of sport. At the Sports Council Wales he assisted the business transformation of 12 National Governing Bodies. In January 2004, as Chief Executive Officer of Welsh Gymnastics Ltd, he led a team of staff & volunteers to create a modern, credible NGB. Matt has been with Welsh Athletics for 15 months and is currently establishing the organisational structures which will support the development of talented athletes at all levels across the schools, clubs & regions of Wales.
