Ignasi Donate, Director, Sports Council Catalan
Ignasi Doņate i Sanglas graduated in Law in 1972 and practised for over 30 years, progressively specializing in Labour Law, Human Rights, Environmental Law and Sport Law. In 1987 he co-founded the Association for Catalonia's Olympic Delegation. He was appointed Secretary of Catalonia's Olympic Committee (COC) in 1990, and became its President in 1994. In 2004 he was appointed Head of the Catalan Sport Council of the Catalan Government, and in 2005 Head of the International Promotion of Sport. In late 2006 he became Head of the International Promotion of Catalan Organizations, for the Secretariat for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Catalonia. He is member of the Olympic Committee of Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Sport Leaders, and the Catalan Foundation for Sport. As an expert in Sport Law he is member of the Law Sport Commission of the Barcelona Lawyers Association, where he has organized and taught Sport Law courses. He has authored many legal articles on law, sport and the environment and is author of the books La normativa ambiental comunitāria (UE environment regulation), Les ONG a Catalunya (NGOs in Catalonia), and co-author of Catalunya i l'olimpisme: esport, identitat i jocs olímpics (Catalonia and Olympism - sport, identity and Olympic Games).
