Håkan has worked with the Sami Athletic Association since 1996. In 1998 he arranged 1998 a friendly match in football between Samiland - Estonia at Stockholm Stadium. This was the start of a new era of international football for the Samis - a group of indigenous people of Northern Europe. In 2003 the Sami Football Association was established and in the same year became a member of the New Football Federation Board ( NF-Board ). Håkan was present at the first meeting of the NF-Board in Brussels. In 2004 he arranged the first international match in the NF-Board between Samiland and Northern Cyprus in Tromsoe Norway. Håkan has been vice president of the Sami Football Association and a member of the executive committee of the NF-Board since 2003. He is also a member of the Sami Athletic Association Board. Håkan was the organizer of the 2nd Viva World Cup 2008 in football, an international tournament for countries and territories that are not members of FIFA.
