Bayan Rahman,
Kurdish Regional Government High Representative to the UK

Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman was appointed the High Representative to the UK of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq in January 2005. Ms Rahman is the representative in Britain of a forward-looking and democratic administration that saw its first free elections in 1992. The Kurdistan Regional Government seeks to build a federal, pluralistic and democratic Iraq.

Key to her role as High Representative are strengthening ties between Kurdistan Region and the UK and encouraging inward investment which is key to the revival and stability of Kurdistan and Iraq as a whole. Before her appointment, Ms Rahman worked as a journalist for 17 years. A history graduate from London University, she worked in a number of British newspapers, including The Observer and the Financial Times. Ms Rahman is the trustee of the Salah Rahman Sports Foundation, a family-run UK-registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of people in Kurdistan in Iraq through sport, by providing them with facilities and coaching and by promoting sport for all in the Kurdistan Region.
